Description

The adult Grey Squirrel is grey with a white underside in winter, and grey-brown in summer.  It weighs about 500 g, and the head and body measures around 25 cm. 

The native Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is smaller and lighter than the Grey Squirrel, being sandy brown in colour, and with ear tufts. It is a protected species.
