Description

The fur is brown on the back and white on the underside. A band of yellow fur is a characteristic that extends directly across the neck area, this attribute differentiates this mouse from the wood mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus). The yellow necked mouse has large ears, protruding eyes and long tail. The size: ranges between 95 to 120 mm and the tail ranges between 77 to 118 mm. This animal is slightly larger than the wood mouse.

This animal is found over a restricted range in southern Britain and can be found from Dorset across to Kent and the Suffolk and along the Severn basin from Gloucestershire to Staffordshire.
